I used to dream about the life I'm living now.

I figured our family needed a new blog, since we're no longer having a little lamb (the little lamb is already here), but a little BOY!!  He doesn't have any type of nickname, though I have become quite obsessed lately with everything whale.  Somehow, calling my son a whale though just doesn't seem very kind!!

I should back up and explain that while Paul was in Indiana on leave, I scheduled the baby's anatomy scan, since I wanted him to be there.  I think he wanted to be there too, since there is a very real possibility that he won't be here for the baby's birth.  (Thank you, Uncle Sam.  We are adding this to the list of top reasons we love you, right up there with paying taxes.)  Paul, Amelia and I went to my ultrasound together and as soon as the tech gave us the info about the, ahem, goods, they left so he could take her back to my parents' house and lay her down for a nap.  While Amelia was thrilled to hear she'll be having a little brother come August, she was exhausted because her life is quite busy...because, you know, crawling backwards, climbing up stairs, sliding down said stairs and just generally being super active can really tire out a baby!  I stayed for a routine visit with my doctor, where she told me the wee man looks perfect, amazing and is developing right on time!  He's in the 50th percentile right now, which is right around where Amelia was during my pregnancy with her.

We are so excited to meet this little boy.  After Amelia was born, I swore I was NOT having another child, ever, period, end of story.  Now that we are 12 months into this motherhood thing, I think I have the hang of it and am excited at the chance to try it all again.  Not going to lie though, the newborn phase is my least favorite of all.  Either way, we are happy our family will be complete in a few short months and I know several friends and family members are happy Amelia will have a sibling, since that was not a very real possibility about...mmmm...12 months and 6 days ago today.  :)

His name?  Should I share?  I've never been the type for holding out on the big information (baby's gender, estimated due date, name, etc.) while pregnant so I guess we'll go ahead and spill it.  His name is William Michael.  William because, well, we just like the name.  Versatile -- he can go by Will, Liam, Billy (though we hope not, because it's not our taste), Bill, Willie, etc.  For now we call him William.  Michael is after my dad, and it's also Paul's middle name.  So there you have it.  Little William is on the way!

Aside from that excitment, things are pretty relaxed around here.  We spend our days reading books aloud (me), riding in the Cozy Coupe (Amelia), pushing around the Cozy Coupe (me) and tormenting the dogs (I'll let you guess on that one).  We celebrated Amelia's 1st birthday while Paul was here.  She enjoyed her cupcake (no, she didn't get a whole cake...bad mommy!), though I think the frosting was her very favorite part.  She has a sweet tooth just like her momma.  :)  We didn't have an all-out, throw-down 1st birthday party for her just yet, mainly because I wasn't really planning on one, but now we're thinking of a small get together at the Children's Zoo when Paul is back at the end of May.  Stay tuned for details.

And now, I give you Amelia in pictures.  Enjoy!

"I love cupcakes!  I love birthdays!"

HA!  I crack myself up.

Because every baby needs a pair of 3-D movie glasses.  You  know, for viewing 3-D movies.  At the movie theater.

Funfetti cupcakes.  Yes Amelia, there is a Santa Clause!

Paul forgot to tell the barber he wanted the Navy issue haircut.  He got the Marine one instead -- variety is the spice of life, right?!
