Amelia bakes!
My mom and Amelia had a cookie baking party recently. She enjoyed it all, but I think eating the finished product was her favorite part!

So this whole blog thing...
I am not so great at keeping up with a blog, obvi. My apologies. It’s just that life is, well, busy. VERY hectic, now that we’ve added another baby to the bunch, whom I lovingly refer to as my crazies. Yes, that’s right. I call my babies crazy. And there is only time for one crazy at a time, so I spend my days calming Amelia’s crazy, only to then calm William’s crazy. But it’s a fun crazy…and this time around mama isn’t crazy, so all is good.
So William (“Willie-worm”) was born exactly a month ago today! It has been a super fast and super fun month. So much easier the second time around – his delivery, my recovery, nursing, adjusting to life with a newborn…everything has been easier. He sleeps…not so amazingly well. For the first couple of weeks he was awake pretty much every 1.5 to 2 hours at night. Of course, he slept like a dream during the day!! We’ve since got that sort of figured out. He is now…wait for it…sleeping about 3-4 hours at a time at night. Some would say that’s terrible. Me? I’ll take it. As for his personality, he is super laid back. Praise the Lord!! I’m not sure if I could have handled another high maintenance baby. Knock on wood, Willie-worm is mellow. Chill. Just the way I like it.
The adjustment from 1 to 2 babies has been so much better (for me) than the adjustment from 0 to 1 baby. I realize I’m still only a month into things, and the shoe could drop at any moment (dear Lord, please don’t let that shoe drop!) but if I could give an overall rating for the past month, I’d give it a solid 8.5 out of 10! The only thing that could make this whole experience better is if Paul was able to be with us a bit more. We’ll all be back together in about a month (fingers crossed) and then we can actually see what it’s like to live life as a family of 4!
My sweet crazies

This 22.5" tiny bundle of joy was so happy to stretch out! Not as happy as his mama was to HAVE him out!
Amelia loves her new brother. So much so that she’s always asking for him, as soon as she wakes up in the morning or from her nap in the afternoon. She’s super helpful in the way a 17 month old can be –gives him a couple of sucks of his pacifier (only to pluck it from his mouth and stick it in hers), brings me about 7 or 8 diapers at a time for him (sometimes she gets her diapers and his diapers mixed up – hey, a size 1 and a size 4 are super similar!!) and alerts me to when he’s upset by saying, “Bay-beh. Bay-beh. Mama. BAY-BEH!” She loves to kiss him, play with him and wake him up from naps. And she’s only drawn (his) blood once!! Here she is -- being that great, loving, patient, sharing big sister! Doesn't she look so happy!?
